About Tokon

Our History

The Hinschberger family is the originator of the Kamikaze brand. With the help of Sensei Hiroshi Shirai we developed the unique cut and design of our uniforms. This design, made by a grand master, is the foundation of our product line.

After 2001 we decided to drop our Kamikaze brand name for several reasons and changed it to Tôkon (Fighting Spirit) for the North American market and Kaiten for the European market. Former distributors in Canada and Spain began to offer Kamikaze uniforms which didn’t meet our high standards for quality and comfort. For this reason customers will only find our approved and well-established, high quality uniforms under the brand name Tôkon or Kaiten.

The United States branch of Tôkon Martial Arts is under the management of Mr. Marcus Hinschberger. As the nephew of the Kamikaze brand founder, he carries on the family tradition, serving  as Tôkon’s NAFTA area representative. Mr. Hinschberger is also an accomplished Karateka who has a deep understanding of the market, the karate community, and most importantly the art itself. This guarantees the continued of authenticity of our products and our commitment to our fellow karateka.

Mr. Marcus Hinschberger is also the president and founder of KarateCoaching LLC (www.KarateCoaching.com), the most comprehensive karate database in the world.

For our Canadian customers we have established in 2010 an office with warehouse in Alberta under the management of Mr. Daniel Verzoti. Please visit www.Tokon.ca
